Particulars of Organization Functions & Duties

1. Brief History & Background of its Establishment:

     Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (OIIDC) has been set up in 1981 as statutory corporation under ORISSA INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENMT CORPORATION, 1980 Act legislated by the ORISSA State Assembly to meet the infrastructure needs of the entrepreneur intending to establish industrial units in Odisha. The corporation thus formed, is to assist the rapid and orderly establishment and growth of industries, trade and commerce. The corporation (IDCO) is named as nodal agency for providing industrial infrastructure in the state of Odisha.

2. Mission/ Vision:

IDCO performs the following broad functions towards achieving the MISSION spelt out as below:

i. Establishment of Industrial Areas/ Industrial Estates/ Industrial Growth centers etc.

ii. Establishment of Economic growth centers at different strategic locations in the state.

iii. Establishment of infrastructure facilities like:

a. Built-up sheds
b. Roads, drains etc.
c. Water supply net work
d. Power and illumination (including street lights)
e. Social amenities like building for banks/ post offices/ education complex/ shopping complex/ communication network etc both planned and on demand basis.

iv. Maintenance of Industrial Areas/ Estates.

v. Acquisition and allotment of land to facilitate the needs of both individual/ corporate entrepreneurs.

vi. Extension of social and industrial infrastructure development related construction work of various funding agencies so as to boost industrial growth in Odisha.

     IDCO also provides services related to land acquisition for large corporate house/ Entrepreneurs on behalf of Govt. of Odisha on lease basis without any infrastructure work developed. The organization has so far established 86 industrial estates and industrial areas in the different parts of the state involving over 4000 acres of land and construction of nearly 1600 industrial sheds. Till date, infrastructural supports have been provided by IDCO to around 4000 industrial units in Odisha.

3. Function & Powers:

i. Generally to promote and assist in the rapid and orderly establishment, growth and development of industries, trade and commerce in the State and

ii. In particular, and without prejudice to the generality of CI (i) to:

a. Establish and manage industrial estates at places notified by the State Government.
b. Develop industrial areas notified by the State Government for the purpose and make them available for undertakings to establish themselves.
c. Undertake schemes or works, either jointly with other corporate bodies or institutions, or with Government or local authorities, or on an agency basis, in furtherance of the purposes for which the Corporation is established and all matters connected therewith.
