Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aim and objectives of the organization:

     District Panchayat Office is one of the Important Sections of the Collectorate under direct control of the Collector, Angul. It strengthens the G.P. Administration at Grass Root level for benefit of the public.

     The District Panchayat Office is functioning for supervising and monitoring of the Gram Panchayat and G.P. Wing of Panchayat Samities in the District. The G.P. administration in the district is managed by the Dist. Panchayat Office. It also assists the District Administration in G.P. matters.

2) Mission and Vision:

i) To look after proper administration in the District at Gram Panchayat level.
ii) The mission of the Organization is to render necessary guidance to 209 G.Ps for fruitful implementation of various schemes operated in G.P. level. Similarly the vision of the Organization is to serve the general People at G.P. level by entertaining their grievances and adopting necessary measures to set aside their problems at proper quarter.

3) Brief History & Background for its establishment:

     This Office is functioning since 01.04.1993 after bifurcation from its mother district Dhenkanal & since then it is working as District Panchayat Office under direct control of the Collector.

     After enactment of O.G.P. Acts and Rules this Office has been established with a view to extend the aims and objectives of the OGP Act & Rules at G.P. level.

4) Allocation of business:

To render assistance to the Dist. Administration in controlling G.P. administration in the District.

5) Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:

     To gear up the G.P. field staff working at G.P. level, Block level and Sub-Divisional level for proper functioning of  G.P. administration in the District.

6) Details of services rendered:

     Conducting monthly G.P. field staff meeting for review of different schemes executed through the G.Ps. i.e. proper conducting of Paili Sabha, Gram Sabha, G.P. meeting, management of public properties transferred to G.Ps., utilization of grant- in- aid received by the G.Ps. like K.L. Grant, Cess grant, Honorarium to Sarpanch/ Naib-Sarpanches, D.A. & S.F. to Ward Members/ Sarpanches/ Naib-Sarpanches, Subsidity to G.P. staff, Sairat source, inspection of G.Ps. by the G.P. field staff, collection of demand, adjustment of advances of the G.Ps., distribution of above G.I.A. to G.Ps. and submission of Utilization Certificates and D.C. Bills on the allotment received.

7) Citizen interaction:

     Attending Jana Sampark Sibir organized by the Dist. Administration, District Grievance Cell for citizen interaction.

8) Map of the Office location:

     Functioning in its own building with effect from 01.04.2003 (within the campus of Collectorate, Angul)
