Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1. Objective/ Purpose of the Public Authority:
To act as the middle tier in established 3 tier PRIs as institutions of self government under Constitution of India.
2. Mission/ Vision:
a) To enable PRI to Plan and Implement the Schemes for Economic Development of the Poverty Stricken People living in Block through providing self and wage employment, social security measures, housing and welfare schemes.
b) To ensure through PRIs the prosperity and enhancing quality of life of the inhabitants in its territory.
3. Brief History of the Authority and Contents of its Formation:
This Block started functioning since 01.04.1961 with 26 Gram Panchayat. The Geographical area of the Block is 666.78 sq K.M.The total population of the Block is 135723 as per 2001 census. The category wise position is as follows.
4. Duties of the Public Authority:
To monitor the utilization of funds received by it and by the gram pnchayats to carry out development works and poverty amelioration programme being responsible to the local PRIs.
5. Main Activities and Functions of the Public Authority:
a) To monitor the functioning of gram panchayat within the framework of powers and authorities entrusted in a 3 tier PRIs system.
b) To supervise and monitor the utilization of funds received by the gram panchayats for implementation of wage employment and self employment programme and to utilize the funds received by it for such programme.
c)To prepare plan, projects and select beneficiaries for various govt. sponsored Anti Poverty Schemes basing upon recommendation from Palli Sabha and Gram Sabha.
