6.  For promotion of Music, Dance & Orissan Culture, International Odissi Festival has been organized from 26th December-2007 to 30th December-2007 at Bhubaneswar.

7. Library Services - The Culture Department is trying its level best to upgrade the Library Services from the Rural level to State level. Under Raja Ram Mohan Ray Library Foundation Scheme. Book Assistance Storage, and Financial Assistance for Construction of Library Buildings are provided to the Rural Libraries and Gandhi Pathagars to give reading facilities to the Students. Research Scholars and General Public every year.

8. For promotion of Literature and Literary Activities, Dance and Drama. Visual Arts and Development of Urdu Language   and Literature the Orissa Sahitya Academy, Sangeet Natak Akademy. Lalitkala Akademy and Urdu Akademy are functioning under the Culture Department.

      On the Occasion of 50th Anniversary, the Orissa Sahitya Akademy has celebrated its Golden Jubilee w.e.f. 25.9.2007 in a Pompous manner in different parts of the State.

     To Encourage and Identify the Artists at the Block/ District/ State Level on Art and Music a Programme for Distribution of Governor's Trophy was jointly Organized by the Orissa Lalitkala Akademy and Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademy on 3rd February-2008 in the  year 2007-08 and 2^nd time such Award Programme was also Organized on dt.8 2.2009 in the year 2008-09 .

      Further the 1^st and 2^nd National Artist Camp and Seminar for the year 2007-08 and 2008-09 were Organized by the Orissa Lalitkala Akademy on dt.9.1.2008 to 13.1.2008 and from 26^th December-2008 to 31s1 December-2008.The Lok Badya Utsav was organized by the Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademy on dt16.3.2008.

     The Urdu Akademy has organized "Srujani Sandhya" (Kabi Sammelani) at Bhanja Kala Mandap on dt 21.7.2007. Writers meet on dt.19.8.2007 at Town Hall, Bhadrak. All Orissa Urdu-Oriya Kabi Sammelan at Rotary Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on dt.28 1 2009 Mushaira & Seminar on Sufi Saint at Balasore on dt 13.3 2009.

9.  The open Air Auditorium-Utkal Mandap with a sitting capacity of 5000 people has been Constructed   in the Premises of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya by the Culture Department in the year 2006 for Promotion and Propagation of Art & Culture.

10. The following Archival Publications were brought out by the Orissa State Archives during the past five years.

• Freedom Struggle in Orissa Vol-I & II.
• A book-let entitled "Madhu Smruti".

Besides preparation of Manuscripts for "Bhasa Bhitika Samantha Utkal Pradesh Gathan" is under progress.

11. Orissa State Museum has celebrated its Platinum Jubilee from 29.12.2007 to 31.12.2007. It has also conducted National Seminar on Sri Jayadev and Geeta Govinda, Buddhism in Orissa and Museum Publication in association with International Council of Museum Association of India. Two rare and valuable manuscripts of State Museum have been declared as National Treasure". 

12. The works of the following new projects are under progress:

1. Construction of Biju Pattnaik Sanskruti Bhawan at Berhampur.
2. Construction of a Multi-purpose Auditorium theatre at Bhubaneswar.
3. Construction of Sanskruti Bhawan at Jajpur Road.
4. Construction of a Mini Theatre Hall in the premises of Odissi Research Centre at Bhubaneswar.
5. Renovation of the Building of the Art & Crafts College, Khallikote.
6. Construction of Administrative Blocks and Hostels of Utkal University of Culture.
7. Renovation of Bhanja Kala Mandap.
   

3.  Mission/Vision:

Likely/Expected Achievements during the year 2009-10:

1.  Culture Department is taking steps to establish Shreekhetra Sangrahalaya at Puri in 12th Finance Commission's Award.

2.  To provide Artist Pension to about 1500 new Artists of the State.

3. To Prepare & Install the Statues of about 6 Persersonalities of the Soil, in different Conspicuous places of the State.

4. To complete the project" Biju Pattnaik Sanskruti Bhawan" at Berhampur.
