Particulars of Organization, Functions & Duties

1) Aim & Objectives of the Organization:

     It is a custodial organization. A person who defies & deviates from the codified rules of the society is put in the Jail. He/ She is made disciplined and returned to the main stream of the society for leading a sociable life for the rest of his life. This is the prime aim & objective of the Organization. As it is a Sub-Jail, only U.T. prisoners were confined previously but now both U.T. prisoners as well as convicts present.

2) Mission/ Vision:

     The Jail Superintendent is over all in charge of the Jail who is under the direct control of Addl. D.G. of Police-cum-I.G. of prisons & D.C.S., Odisha, Bhubaneswar and implements the rules and regulations prescribed in the Odisha Jail Manual Vol-I and II & to supervise the duties and functions of all other executive officers and guarding staffs. He kept aware of all the facts by the Prisons Directorate through reports, returns and correspondence etc.

3) Brief History & Establishment of its Establishment:

 

     Established in the year 1938 by the then Raja of Athmallik Gadajat Sri Mahendra Deo.

4) Organization Chart:

    Sub-Jail, Athmallik is under the direct control of the Addl. D.G. of Police-cum-I.G. of Prisons & D.C.S., Odisha, Bhubaneswar (Home/ Jails).

5) Duties to be performed to achieve the Mission:

    As a custodian to keep the prisoners in safe sustody and as a wellfare officer to make the prisoners, social and reformated.

9) Working hours both for Office & Public:

     From unlock up i.e. from 6.00A.M. sunrise to 12 noon and from 12 noon to till lock up i.e. sunset 6.00 P.M. for the employee serving in Jail and from 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. for public.

10) Grievance Redress Mechanism:

     The gate warder of this Sub-Jail receives complaints both from prisoners as well as public. The complaints are redressed immediately by the office in working hours.
